WHO WE ARE
About Us
what is mpc?
MPC is a collective of 40+ meal providers in Seattle and King County. Together, we serve over 5 million free meals annually.
MPC provides critical food system support including bulk and local food sourcing, food storage and transportation, advocacy to funders and policymakers, and coordinating opportunities for collaboration and resource sharing amongst meal providers. MPC staff work directly with meal providers to support the financial and operational infrastructure required to sustain reliable free meal programs. MPC staff and members work together to push City, County, and State government agencies and elected officials to support policies and public investments that address the root causes of food insecurity, hunger, and poverty. Every community experiencing food insecurity and hunger faces unique challenges, but together in solidarity we can create a more equitable and resilient food system.
Who are mpc members?
MPC members are meal providers rooted in the communities they serve, providing free, high quality, nutritious and culturally appropriate meals.
Our membership comprises youth and adult shelters, temporary and permanent supportive housing programs, ethnic and cultural organizations, and grassroots community-based meal programs. MPC meal providers serve communities experiencing food insecurity and hunger in King County, including people experiencing homelessness, immigrants and refugees, BIPOC communities, low-income individuals, seniors, youth, people with medically-sensitive diets due to chronic illnesses, and people living with disabilities, mental illness, or addiction.
